The more flexible you become on the bike, the more power you will be able to put out in a more aerodynamic position. Aerodynamics are a large part of speed in road cycling. I noticed earlier you mentioned riding on sidewalks, you really shouldn't do that. A lot of people, beginning cyclists...

    1. Good saddle, good cycling shorts, good fit on the bike 2. Your ass hurts if A. You are not sitting on your ?sit bones? which can be fit or the seat itself. Some people require certain seats. Contrary to what you might think, a stiffer seat with less padding will likely feel better...

The joy of bicycling (from the perspective of a group of car enthusiasts)

Agreed, I always wear glasses and at least half finger gloves. The gloves give some padding for shock absorption in normal riding and also can save your skin if you have to lay the bike down. My cheap gloves have survived 2 crashes and did a great job protecting my hands from road rash...

    Lean with Missfire's

If you are still experiencing issues on all 4 cylinders I doubt it is a coil pack issue. I would be considering the possibility of a bad fuel pump/clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pressure regulator. If it is an issue at only 1 or 2 cylinders I would swap coil packs/fuel injectors to see if the...

    Must-haves for a garage setup

Less yard = less mowing and more space for car things C'mon man you didn't buy a house in that area for the yard space did you? haha

    Must-haves for a garage setup

I've seen garages like that. Does make one wonder what the original owners drove, if they went cheap on building it, or if permitting didn't allow for more. With the cost of everything around DC I'm guessing it was a space/initial build cost issue?

Round 2: My 2015 Galaxy Blue Journal

Here is a short video that I found of me riding a Strava segment after I had just gotten my gopro. Nothing that fun to watch, but I'll get one up of me sprinting or going downhill. Feel free to ask any more cycling, video, editing questions in this thread as I'm quite enjoying it! (making me...

Round 2: My 2015 Galaxy Blue Journal

31mph on a fairly flat road? If so that is pretty good! I'll have to post an on board video soon of me sprinting on the bike or bombing it downhill. As far as the camelback, yes those exist for cyclists but are typically only seen in the mountain bike/ultra endurance crowds. Typical roadies...

    Shopping for an STi hatch.

I suggest finding one with a maintence history. 100k+ isn't a big deal if things have been taken care of (timing belt & tensioner, clutch, regular fluids, etc.). For me it shows a level of maturity and mechanical understanding to keep some form of records. Any car I have bought with good...

    Full Body Paint Job Prices

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. IMO the pricing structure breaks down like this: Basic Prep & good materials - $2,000-$3,000 Detailed Prep w/ good repairs & good materials - $4k and up I would not personally do anything below $2k unless you are assisting in the prep and therefore...

Round 2: My 2015 Galaxy Blue Journal

Yes you can be ticketed. Cyclists are to follow all of the same road laws as drivers of motorized vehicles. This is a fairly large issue and has resulted in some drivers not respecting cyclists on the road which is never good for anyone.

Round 2: My 2015 Galaxy Blue Journal

14-15mph is pretty good for starting out. To address a common misconception, narrower tires do not have a lower rolling resistance in most circumstances. Due too how narrow the tire is, it has a very long contact patch vs a wider tire that had a shorter contact patch that is slightly wider...
