AWD Light, flickered briefly.

As mentioned, my AWD light flickered briefly about 2 weeks ago or so. I never stayed on or anything, maybe like less than 10 seconds while driving on the freeway on a rainy commute to work.
Only information I got on it is for uneven wheels and maybe low tire pressure? The manual also says the AWD system could have been malfunctioning, its one of these 3 things but yea idk.

Any insight on why this may have triggered briefly? Car drives great and no mods.

I haven't seen any reports of that happening. Has it turned on since? If not, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Naw, just once. It's actually pretty hard to notice that light when it does go off. Really small and not so bright, I only caught it then because I was actually looking at my cluster briefly on the freeway.

I guess just keep an eye on it. Probably nothing though.....

How many miles do you have on car now? Have you messed with the diff settings yet? When the storm came through here I put it in Auto + and the car handled beautifully. Wish I had a set of snow tires to go up to Tahoe. Hoping to buy some at the end of this year.

I'm around 920 I think. I was like around 800+ under 14 days of owning it lol but I transferred locations for my job and now I work within 2 miles verses 30 miles away.(60 mile round trip killed it quick lol)

I haven't played around with it on my car, though the next time it rains pretty good I'll try out that Auto +

Hopefully I can get another set of wheels to place either AS or some snow tires if I ever go to the mountains. Doesn't really snow here locally.

Yeah I have a short commute to work too, except once a week I head out to the bay. I'm at 6500 miles now and just scheduled my second oil change.

So talking to a buddy of mine he said this happened to him as well. He went around and checked each tire pressure. Noticed one tire was a bit off than the others and filled it. The tire wasn't flat or anything just lowered than the others. Hasn't had the problem since.

Ahhhh smart. The tpms sensor caused it then. That means the tires were off by enough that the revolutions of the tires were mismatched by greater than 2/32nd tread. Thats bad news for the differentials. Im sure you fixed it.

Good to know!

I'll take a look at the tires n see if that was the case then, thanks :)

@CSF707 Hey, I'm looking at the manual right now and it seems I was correct.

All-Wheel Drive warning
light (if equipped)

This light flashes if the vehicle is driven
with tires of differing diameters fitted on
the wheels or with an excessively low air
pressure in any of the tires.

CAUTION
Continuing to drive with the AWD
warning light flashing can damage
the powertrain. If the AWD warning
light starts to flash, promptly park in
a safe place and check whether the
tires have differing diameters and
whether any of the tires has an
excessively low inflation pressure.

So, you have homework tonight. Read the manual thoroughly!
I have a 2004 so I don't have all that gizmo that you do. :D

Well I read that part, but it only appeared less than 10 seconds and never appeared ever again. So I overlooked the part where it says 'Continuing to drive with the AWD warning light flashing' cause it wasn't continuously flashing. I was hoping for another answer since it was brief.

The only other random thing that 2015 owners posted before was that the tires were overfilled from the factory. Along with overfilled diff fluid.

Well you still have warranty so check your tires and set up an appointment.

You know what the dealer is going to say lol, can't replicate issue. How many psi off does it trigger the tpms? I never had a car with them before.

On a side note, whats a good bottle of extra oil on hand when checking your oil levels? Still got a long way to go till my 1st oil change at 3k.

Damn imbecile dealers man.

Not sure with the tpms and psi. Do some googling on the psi variant per wheel. Not sure what the correlation per psi is.

Id say mobile 1 synthetic 5w-30 is a good spare.

Are you checking your oil regularly?

I just try to make it a habit to check it every 2 weeks or just check during my weekly car washes :p

I just want a spare bottle on hand just in case.

Youre set then. Let us know what the psi were on your tires please.

The dealer will definitely say that! LOL It doesn't hurt though to have them check the tire pressures and rear diff fluid level. It would be bs if they charge you too.

I check my oil level every time I fill up and maybe once or twice in between. I've yet to see my oil level dip and I'm at almost ~7k miles now. I'd be surprised to see or hear if your oil level drops.

I did my first oil change at 2600 and just had my second at 6600. With my driving style I thought it would be overkill if I changed it at a 3k interval. I have fun with the STI but I don't beat it. My rev limiter is set at just over 5k rpm.

Browsing the other forums I got a little paranoid and had my oil changed before hitting 3k. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything left over from the manufacturer floating around in my engine. I've read some people changing their oil right at 1k too.

haha yea. People that said their front n rear diffs were overfilled because they were leaking. But yea I'm not too concerned with the oils dropping on a new ride but yea im commute reduced from 60 miles round trip down to 4 miles round trip for work lol so filling up not so much now but mpg is horribly lower lol!

Havent gotten up from the couch yet to check the tire pressure :p
