My car is honking at me??

'08 STi.

When the key is switched to the on position sometimes it makes this funny dying honker horn noise. It seems to only do it as the gauge cluster illuminates and does its opening ceremony, meaning once the needles stop dancing the noise ceases.
It has also started to make the same/similar noise with the engine cranking but more of a long drawn out hollow honking.

Anyone know what the hades this could be? Why the car wants to be a clown car now? :tard::tard::tard:

See the attached video. Turn your volume way up as iPhone has doodoo for audio pick up.

Never heard that before. Strange.

Hmmm. Wonder if it has something to do with the instrument cluster, specifically the gauge needles?
It doesn't do it all of the time but the noise does seem to sync with the needles as the do their dance when the key is turned on.
Seems to be most prominent the colder it gets.

Only mod is the boost gauge. That is hooked up using an add a circuit, solder and heat shrink.

I think he means which fuse number.

For instance, fuse 3 power door locks (stays hot all the time), fuse 11 is the ignition, fuse 12 for brightness control...

Agreed. I may disconnect the boost gauge and see if it continues.
Start the process of elimination.
