So I'm a sponsor. That means you're my minions and you must comply with my demands am I right?!
Anyways, recently welcomed Selena to the family. She is a 2005 STi. I'm a previous '05 STi owner and lets just say that she gave her life to save mine. I was young, dumb and full of shit. I eventually paid for my bad decisions with a bad accident. May she rest in peace.
So, Selena is sort of my redemption from my past. I never did feel complete since the accident. My life kind of took a turn down the wrong road. I mean, I had just turned 21 and got my first DWI, lost my job AND wrecked my car? It got very complicated the following two years with school, court, jail, health issues and just what seemed like a burden that I could never defeat. But I toiled, tussled and crawled my way out of the dark pit I was stuck in. Everything began to look up. After dealing with my legal issues I became laser focused on finishing school and graduating. This last May I finally did it. I graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BS w/majors in Management Science and Mathematics. I was lucky enough to find a good job for a good company and I haven't looked back sense. Of course, I now know the real world SUCKS! Paying bills and crap. But I found myself with a nice amount of money left over(perk of a sought-after job :tup so I decided to come full circle and redeem myself.
I test drove a new 2011 STi as well as one of the new ones. Both within my price range and I knew I could easily afford the payments. However, something wasn't right. First off, I've never been a big fan of buying NEW cars. And, although I loved the new models, I just didn't feel right. I test drove a 2008 and I was pretty close to buying it. Until I went to a car meet and saw one parked next to a Mazda 6...and the resemblance was sickening. So I decided to wait, maybe something will come up, I thought to myself. Then it happened a 2005 STi was put online and I called within 3 days of being posted...only to find out it was sold. If there is one thing I love/hate about Subaru's. They retain their value and people jump on the '05 models like they were free. So I waited a while longer, then it happened. A Kia dealership about 40 miles from my house had one. They had not even posted a picture up but I knew I had to go see it. I convinced my dad to come(he with the good credit and all :lol and we bought it that day. Although the newer models were nice and slick...something just felt right about this car. I would have named her Redemption, but she looks like a Selena.
So anyways. She has about 100K on her. I put on the last 1800. So at the moment she is being brought back to normal. I did a couple of fluid changes, well actually just the oil. The Kia dealership had put in God knows what oil with a "Mighty Guard" filter...The previous owner also left on there a COBB radiator shroud, COBB DP and a Greddy EVO2 exhaust. So for the first week or so I was driving her tenderly since I knew she wasn't Stage II. The first thing I bought her was the AP and flashed it right away. Then it happened, a "system lean" CEL coupled with a "emissions leak" CEL. That is when I found these forums and haven't looked back.

I have an appointment with COBB tomorrow. After two weeks worth of troubleshooting I just couldn't come up with an answer...and within 30 seconds of one of the COBB guys looking at the engine they found a huge tear on the turbo inlet. Go figure. So because I purchased a high mileage warranty, I decided that it was cheaper to pay my deductible than for the part itself. Hopefully they know how to "deal" with insurance and find EVERYTHING and ANYTHING wrong with it.
Here she is after her long bath:
