Noises after shifter bushings

So I know that the loud tranny whine is normal after installing aftermarket shifter bushings. That?s all fine and dandy. But there?s another noise that?s bothering me. I?m going to try and record it today.

But once the car is all warmed up. Wether I?m sitting in neutral or gearing down it sounds kind of like some marbles spinning around in my transmission or like maybe gears grinding. It?s not very loud while idling I?m neutral but if I?m low rpms gearing down it?s very noticeable.
Again I?ll record it later. Any ideas? Could be paranoid and still getting used to hearing the transmission more now but I feel like it shouldn?t make that noise. Gonna check the fluid as well.

We'll have to wait for a video in order to gauge whether it's problematic or not.

I do hear faint noises resembling "marbles bouncing around." That is odd. Batmobile_Engage Grinder34 Eagleye IGOTASTi Boogieman98 Doppelganger

Also, the transmission whine sounds as if it may be too loud? Do you know when the last time the transmission and rear differential fluids were changed? I believe they should be changed every 30,000 miles.

I got the car in February. I was assuming they would of changed all the fluids. Going to make an appointment with a Subaru specialist shop near me ASAP. I have a 2 year warranty that covers anything engine, drivetrain, transmission so that?s not a worry. Just want to prevent anything.

Too loud even with aftermarket bushings?

I would suggest you document all changes done to your car. I write down what I did at the specific mileage. I should probably begin incorporating dates as well. One thing to note is that I've never been to the dealer to service my car. Either I did something myself, or my mechanic did it for me. I don't trust anyone else with my car(s). Obviously, your situation is different, especially since I've never had a warranty.

I think you should wait until more people chime in. You can't go only after what I say.

If your warranty covers pretty much everything and it's no extra cost, it'd be in your favor to have ALL fluids changed. Brake, clutch, engine oil, transmission, and differential fluids. I hope your timing belt was changed at 100,000 miles, or kilometers in your case, alongside with new pulleys/belt and new coolant.

Also, don't assume. If it's not documented, then it didn't happen as far as you're concerned. You have to remain objective.

Noted. Warranty covers anything that breaks or is going to. Fluids are out of pocket. But I?ll probably do transmission and dif to be safe. Expecting like 200 for everything

Transmission and rear differential fluids should not cost that much. You can use the OEM Subaru fluids and it should be around $70 or so from the dealer for enough fluid to swap into the transmission and rear differential. This is off the top of my head from when I last did mine. You still have to do your research as to what the fluid capacities are. Prices could've also changed.

I can't answer that. You need to get a second, or third, opinion from someone who can view the car in person. Has the car driven fine thus far, though?

If the car has been performing normally up to this point, I don't see a problem with driving it like a grandma in the time being, especially if you need a car to get around. Do you have a spare car?

Maybe it?s just the audio quality or my phone speakers but the little bit of noise I heard would not have me worried. As suggested, I would start with fluid. If the sound gets louder it is likely that you have some wear or light damage causing the noise. Old fluid can sometimes help mask the sound. Still may not be cause for alarm, just something to monitor.

Do you already have a magenetic drain plug? Might be worth throwing one on when doing a fluid swap.

Got a call back from the shop. They said the noise coming from the transmission is about a 5 out of 10. 10 being really bad. So they are going to change the fluid as well as the diff fluid. It?s got a magnetic drain plug so we?re gonna find out soon how bad it is. Thank god for warranties
