I was told to start a build thread for my car......So here we go!
I am the 4th owner of this car(1.Old lady 2.Air force member 3.Another air force member and good friend) The first two didnt do any work to it and just drove it for only 15k miles between the two.
Now this is where the fun begins. While on deployments my friend who was the current owner was stock piling parts for the build. When he got back we went to work. At the time I was driving a 2006 EVO lX so working on the subaru was a pain in the ass like most of you know. But finally we got it done.
Parts we installed:
-cobb sf intake
-ebay downpipe with wideband bung
-invidia q300 exhaust
-grimmspeed up pipe with tial 44mm EWG
-vf39 turbo
-STI top mount
-grimmspeed mbc
-Walbro fuel pump.
So we decided to take a little road trip to see our friend John Visconti who at the time was working for "The Shop CT". He worked his magic with EcuTek and Race Rom and managed to get 322hp and 351tq on 22 psi. Car pulls strong and is so much fun to drive.
After that came time to make it handle and sit right
Suspension:
-cobb front and rear adjustable swaybars with endlinks
-bc br coilovers with extenders
-whiteline front strut bar
And this is where the keys become mine. After returning from Afghanistan my buddy decided he wanted to do an STI drive train swap. But after looking at the price and requirements he decided to just look for an STI. He found one, Very known one in our area and after test driving it he couldnt say no.
Now he didnt need two cars so he decided to put his up for sale. Being that I knew the last two owners of it and was there for the whole build I figured it was stupid to not buy it.
Now that it was my car I couldnt let it go more than a week without doing something to make it "mine". So out came the headlights and in the oven they went.
After driving it for a while I decided I wanted to do something with the wheels so for the time being I used some Plasti Dip until I figured out what wheel I wanted to run.
I figured out what wheels I wanted after a few months of searching and here they are. 18x8.75 +35 XXR 527.
I also found a great deal on an sti trunk and had the bright idea to go wingless. So 18 holes later and hours of blocking and paint. I installed my completely shaved trunk. And fell in love with the new look.
Now since I live in upstate NY we are no strangers to snow so now the car sits in my driveway in "Winter Mode".
Stay tuned for this upcoming spring I have some new parts waiting in my garage (04 side skirts, White wheels, new lip, more low)
I am currently looking for a rear window spoiler off and STI if anyone knows of one.
