Best "bang for the buck" modifications for WRX's and STi's

With the K&N $50 filter, anyone from personal experience and saw differences? I never used their oil based filters before. I did use AEM's dryflow filter for my previous v2 intake on my car before.

People tend to over-oil their oiled filters. Over-oiled leads to soiling of the MAF. With certain CAIs on various model years, it can also affect the physical airflow over the MAF meaning your engine would be confused about how much air it's actually getting.
