Finally got the STi!!

This is my third WRX but my first STi. This break in period is taking forever! the first oil change is free so I was considering getting it done at 500 miles, any thoughts?

Welcome. Tell us more of what you bought.

Your gonna get a lot of answers as to what to do on the break in/oil change scenario. Since it is new and under warranty, I'd say follow what your dealership says. However, 500 miles is a reasonable time limit. Some might say do several in that time frame or even wait until 1000 miles.

Yeah so far I've heard between 500 to 1500 miles for the first one. I usually change my oil every thousand miles or so. Been keeping it under 4k rpms but, some snow drifting is making me think I should do it at 500 miles.

Love it! Even at low rpms it's so much fun to drive. Can't wait to really get on it. Still playing with the center diff settings ( any suggestions anyone? ).

Auto for just anything.
Auto + for slippery roads. Front biased
Auto - for dry and performance. More rear biased
Manual one bar is rear and diff unlocked. Each bar locks the diff more towards a 50/50 split. Ex: full bars or full lock if your stuck in the mud or snow.

Ha thats very cool congrats on the new STI and that video looks like such easy fun I could do that all day and still not get bored! Makes me really miss snow that's so awesome- enjoy the STI these things are built to amaze and constantly put a smile on your face!

I had to watch the video twice.... Ive never seen such a huge open lot like that anywhere especially withouth lamp posts! Lucky find for sure! (Unless ohio just sucks like that :lol: )

Mall parking lots are the best. There's a few around here to choose from but most are filled with holes and huge rocks. Here's one with my last wrx, the lot is a little more tight
