Heat Tapes

I've been trying to get some heat tape on the cheap, and have run into several products that look promising, and some are far cheaper than the traditional DEI/Mishimoto offerings.

The problem is, most of the tapes say that they're good to about 300? ish. However, even DEI says:
"Adhesive protected by a release liner rated up to 325?F", about their Reflect-A-Gold, so I'm wondering if that's the same rating i'm seeing on these products:

Metalized Mylar Tape (states 302): http://catalog.cshyde.com/viewitems/tapes-with-psa/metalized-mylar-tape
Kapton Tape (states 500): http://catalog.cshyde.com/viewitems/tapes-with-psa/kapton-polyimide-tape?
Foil Tape (states 325): http://catalog.cshyde.com/viewitems/tapes-with-psa/all-categories-tapes-with-adhesive-foil-tapes-3?

Well if anyone's interested, i picked up the mylar tape. I'll be installing it this winter, but i'm excited about the prospect of performance per dollar on this stuff.

Yeah i have some of that too. But since i couldnt find specs on it, and i was *thinking* about putting it on the underside of the turbo heat shield, i wanted something that could take the heat. I'm a bit skeptical about doing the heat-shield now, but the extra couple of bucks for some "high-tech" stuff seemed worth it. Last thing i want is the stupid heat tape adhesive catching fire in my engine bay at the track. Or getting too hot, coming loose and draping itself all over my downpipe, turbo, etc...

edit: on amazon, it was like $10 for 72 yards i believe.

Im in a hotel room and cant go look at my engine. I saw you mention the coolant pipe to someone else. Is this an easy fix, or does it require taking the IM off?

I, too, love these kind of "fixes"

edit: we start a new thread about this!

Edwin, when we do the TGV/fuel rail swap, we can do that. I want to get as much benefit and power out of the Beast as I reliably can.
