New Key FOB

My key FOB seems to be going bad. I replaced the battery and it still isn't working right. It only seems to work after I press it repeatedly at least a dozen times and also seems to unlock only after pressing lock.

I'm going to open it up again and clean the circuit board, but in the event that I need a new one, what am I'm going to have to do? Can I order one online and program it myself or do I need to go to the stealership?

Hey mine does it too sometimes. I have to literally press lock or unlock 20+ times. Those times it exceeds 20 presses, I'm about ready to crush the damn thing... The light blinks but nothing occurs during those times. Happens with a brand new battery as well...

I haven't really found any online yet, do I need to order from from Subaru? I might call a local stealership today and see what they say.

I haven't had very good luck with Ebay. If it's not toooo expensive, I'd rather get it from a company that I could trust more than some dude selling bullshit out of his mom's basement.

Look on ebay to make sure its coming from a company! Ive been dealing with ebay for a good while now and havent had one issue. If the item is faulty send it back and you get a refund. And with ebay the buyer never loses a case. ;)

There was hardly anything available, but I managed to order one from Ebay for $30. Hopefully this works.

You knew this was in the manual, Alin?
Funny enough, i just reread the manual this past week looking for that "option" that's on the plaque. That's what lead me to write to SOA.

Good to know where it should be in my manual then, (guessing the manuals for the GDs are pretty much all similarly setup) as I have two FOBs coming from an ebay seller (car only came with one remote FOB and one key, so 3 keys (plus one '04 STi key for an experiment) and 2 fobs en route.

Option on what plaque?

Funny enough I bought one of these keys off ebay too, and yes I know it won't work right but I've got an experiment in mind that may involve sacrificing one of the uncut "correct" keys I bought if the width of the key can take the machining necessary to fit it inside the rubberized section (so no easy theieving by the rat-bastards out there). If it works, I'll never dump that key either. :tard:

Gregroot198521 Under the engine bay by the right side strut. (Facing the car from in front of it) There's a plaque and it says "option" Mine says HG, which means it had the silver BBS rims. Check out the 2004 and 2005 production numbers thread I made for more info.

I see that, think I'll go look at my plaque and see what's written on it too. It says TG under the options section, guessing that's the silver BBS, wish the original owner had gotten the goldies instead.
