THAT is incredible news!! I used to sell cars for a living so I know all about the game, but I had heard that dealers absolutely DO NOT budge when it comes to the STi. I CANNOT believe that you paid $500 over invoice! That is so awesome. Now I can use that to go in with more leverage. Sweeeeeet! By the way, my name is Mahmood.

Yea many dealers here weren't giving me a deal at all. typically 1k over invoice and mostly sticker. But yes, I forgot earlier to mention my name is Charles.
Just ask for the out the door price so they can't adjust the pricing when your trying to make the purchase. Print out the quote and give it to them of the time of the pre order to lock that in.

deals much be better in California. I paid ~$1500 under invoice. gotta pull the actual paperwork for the number, but they also paid all the fees as well. of course though I had to pay the tax, uncle sam has to get a cut. check with Heuberger Motors for pricing. they are a vendor on here as well.

oh and welcome by the way! this is a great site!

Hi Charles and sacnvz,

I forgot got to mention something. I visited the Subaru dealership in Walnut Creek, CA. and talked to the salesman. WC Subaru sell their STis for almost $7,000 ABOVE msrp. It's a dealer markup, but I told the guy flat out there's no way on God's green earth I'm paying anything close to that. He said he'd be willing to work with me on the price. Hey sacnvz, at which dealership did you buy your Subaru? Sounds like I'll buy from them if they're willing to sell below Invoice. My name is Mahmood and thanks for the welcome!

Ah your around where I used to live. I was in Cali but I'm up here near Seattle now.
You may want to try Capitol Subaru, Capitol Expressway Auto Mall, San Jose, CA
They are pretty cool over there, I think they are the dealer that pushes cars more than the few surrounding ones. I'd definitely would skip out on WC dealer.
Just search them all, grab a quote. Then take it to the nicest dealer location to obtain a possible price match and hope they will.

The key is Email! If you walk on the lot, there's that mark up on the spot because your talking with the sales person verses an internet/web sales guy.
Get your lowest quote and then bring it onto the lot and or if its the same place, hunt down the guy that gave you the best quote.

Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Now when you say "search them all" I presume you mean semi-local or nationally? Sorry for the dumb questions, lol.

Your all good, ask away! This was pretty much my first buying experience by myself. But yes semi locally. Find everything you can within maybe 1-2 hour drive? Whatever is reasonable of course. But it doesn't hurt to grab a quote that's far away. You never know when you'll get a lower offer maybe a local dealer could match. For example, send an email to Roseville dealer(north of Sacramento - there's a auto mall up there as well), if there's one up there. I don't remember if there was or not.

Yeah, I'll definitely Google every dealer within that distance. All this talk is making me antsy. I can't wait to be behind the wheel of my new STi! But I have to wait until May. :-(

I purchased mine from Autonation Subaru in Roseville. Same place CSF707 just mentioned. I worked with Rod over there. http://www.autonationsubaruroseville.com/

Hey sacnvz,

thanks for the info. Now my job is to be patient and then contact several dealers to try and work the best price I can. Also, Alin asked me to post pics of my Benz. How can I do that? Thanks!

Hey guys, me again. I just figured out that I have to link from a URL to put a photo in my messages. I don't have any social networking accounts, and I don't intend on getting any. Is there any way to get a pic sourced from the photos folder in my phone?

Hi Alin,

It turns out I can simply copy and paste a photo in the text box. I'll get some photos of my MBZ on here soon.
