Okay thanks. Is it common to have the cats removed with your turbo cars for people who don't have emission yearly testing. I know on my mustang I removed my cats and have a catless mid pipe that makes a lot more HP for me. Is it the same on turbo cars or do you want the cats on for more back pressure.

All depends on preference and mostly how deep your pockets are. A catless downpipe really won't have any huge huge jump over a catted high flow aftermarket downpipe. The main reason people go catless is because, well it's cheaper. And the downpipe is replaced to begin with, because the factory downpipe has 2 cats and is ridiculously restrictive as well. The most common down pipe will be a 3 inch bellmouth catless downpipe.

People go both ways: catted and catless. With a catted dp you have better flow but less power because its restrictive. With catless you can gain more power because there is no restriction but you need a muffler to neutralize the back pressure. I had a straight pipe and no cat and the flow wasnt stable on the stock turbo. Its not really an issue with bigger turbos. I am catless and i pass echeck bevause we have self echecks here. as long as no CEL you can pass it with flying colors.

Have you heard about emissions testing over in Illinois? They run those suckers on a dyno with a sniffer and if your above a certain NOX level errrrrr you fail!

Dunno man? Maybe it's because that where Obama is from, and he's all gotta save the world, green peace, electric cars, death to fossil fuel automobiles blah, blah, blah.

I really don't know, just needed to ramble and complain a little this morning :tard:

In your experience, have catted dp flowed better than catless?

Depending on the turbo/tune yes I've seen catted flow just as well as catless, not better than catless, but I've seen them flow similarly. I personally have a catted bell mouth on my STi, but the main reason for that is because my car is SWP and I don't want my rear bumper turning that shade of yellow that a rednecks teeth are after chewing snuff for 15 years.

Ahh no worries, just do what the 240 kids do and slap a Hadouken sticker over it, you'll be all good then, no one will notice!

I could but i was thinking of getting one of the carbon fiber garnishes that mate up on that spot.

I have one on my Evo, the only problem is it has a hell of a time staying put, so I said screw it (pun intended) and put a few tech screws in to hold the garnish in place.

3m tape!! Best of both worlds! If 3m tape holds wing stiffies at 150 mph and has air directed into them, a garnish on the back will have no issues whatsoever!
