6235 - This shit is crazy. It says they strike with their impaling appendages in 23 milliseconds and have some of the most intricate eyes in the known world. Where we have 3 color sensing cone types in our eyes, they have 16 and can see colors that few other organisms can. Also, they're apparently realllllly hard to catch in their tank. How do you get him out? A net?

Is yours a Peacock Mantis Shrimp?

6236 it's a blue green mantis shrimp not a peacock but if he ever passes away I will get a peacock mantis.

The thing with the mantis shrimp is their super smart animals and know that their in an aquarium and will rarely try to break the glass. He's in a glass aquarium that is pretty thin atm but when he out grows it I'll upgrade to a thick acrylic tank even though I would still say he could break an acrylic tank if he wants to since a full grown mantis impact is about the same as a 22 caliber impact. I don't think am acrylic tank will survive a 22 and I prefer glass for tanks since they provide better visibility.

I feed him snails, clams, crabs, muscles etc and he demolishes them so I know he could break most glass or thinner acrylic aquariums if he decided he wanted to venture out of the aquarium.

His tank is next to the TV and you can hear his Caveat (sonic air bubble under water) popping when he is hunting his prey over the TV volume.

A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at. (Bruce Lee)

6423 He also has given me a warning snap before on my thumb and gave me a decent cut from the impact when he was smaller.

So when I was picking up the rocks in his tank I was paranoid as hell but I was able to safely net him out.

Really cool pet and I'd recommend them to any salt water aquarist that wants a species only tank.

6427 - Ohhhh boyyy....somebody's kids will be in a lot of trouble today when they get home from school. For the last 9 months, Minot (North Dakota) Public Schools have been calling my cell phone leaving messages about these kids that are doing poorly in school, getting in trouble and so forth. It's always an automated message so there's no one to talk to. I've tried calling the school and district directly on multiple occasions and I can never find anyone that could help me or knew what was going on. Seems that the kids provided a bogus phone number for their parents. Well, today I got a call from the school and it was a real live person on the other line. So I informed them that I've been trying to contact them for months about this and nearly just blocked their number out of sheer frustration. They apologized and removed my number from their list.

I can't help but imagine a lot of screaming and crying when this gets cracked across some asses tonight!

6435 - I just finished up the foam rock wall for the mantis shrimp tank. Now I need to make sure I get a good grommet to seal the intake tube to the pvc pipe intake system that is installed in the wall.

6437 - You asshole! That's pretty funny.

This one guy I went to high school with, used to talk up his 1982 VW GTI Rabbit so much that a bunch of us would go out in the parking lot, pick it up and turn it sideways in the parking spot, so he couldn't get out until one of the cars on either side left. Those things are so light, especially in the rear end.

6438 that's funny as hell!! As a senior prank we took up every parking space at our school we had kids bring in big trucks with 5th wheel trailers campers and then had little cars take up4 parking spots. The school threatened to have us all towed

6439 - Looking back, we did a lot of kinda messed up stuff. Given, the people we did stuff to, more than had it coming. Did you by chance dissect cats in advanced biology? We did...and let me tell you first hand...severed cat heads make great hood ornaments for the Vice Principals 67 Jaguar.

6440 - Speaking of severed heads... Jen's mother gave us the idea to check out Camp Ticonderoga for the reception, knowing that we like "Rustic" venues. She has never been in there though, and when she was told about the numerous wild animal mounts inside, she immediately regretted the suggestion. She's a nice lady and all, but very citified. She sent me a facebook friend request during hunting season, and immediately regretted it after seeing pictures I posted of my successes. :lmao:
