Ringland Failure - 2014 STI

Looking for help with managing a potential Ringland Failure with my 2014 STI with 6,200 miles on it. Was using Stage 1 mapping with Cobb Accessport for the past year with no issues, then developed severe ticking/rattling noises. Trying to get Subaru to approve repairs. Appreciate any feedback/suggestions.

Let's start with the basics.

What dealer did you take it to and what did they say?

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. To cover my own butt legally, the below advice is purely conjectural and not to be taken seriously:

If at all possible, remove stage 1 map before giving the car to the dealer and deny it was ever on there. As far as you know the car is unmodded.

If they know about the AP and give you trouble, you can try to find logs of stock tunes for cars for your year and Stage 1 tunes for cars for your year. You can try to demonstrate that AFRs, etcs are better with the stage 1 tune, but I wouldn't bet on that working.

6k miles thats pretty cray, hope you can get it fixed.

Wow only 6k miles on the car? I'm already at 8500 on my 15'.

Keep us posted on the situation with the dealer.

Not entirely sure but I think flashing the ECU with the AP leaves some type of "fingerprint".
I would think re flashing to stock would leave your learned parameters at zero thus leaving an indication that the ecu at least had been reset.

I believe its an event thats logged, same marker that would be left if you unhooked your battery to reset the ecu. Just blame a dead battery from listening to your stereo all day lols jk.
