I doubt I'll even watch the Super Bowl...it comes on @ 0300 Monday (3am Monday) lol We have a 1300 (1pm) work call formation but I have to go pay my cell phone bill before lunch.

I watched it from Iraq in 2009. I got wasted. The bad part is it was aired on AFN so there were no Superbowl commercials. Just suicide prevention commercials

And I just remembered that our higher ups gave us 1 beer for the super bowl. I declined since I had a full bar in my room.

Yes it is. The army as an organization is failing miserably because there is no effective system to keep narcissists from obtaining power. Most people I've met who outrank me (hell, even plenty of my peers) significantly have shown a complete disregard of proper leadership, any drive to better themselves and only care about looking good. In the end the average troop suffers and that makes me want to shoot people. So in the interest of not becoming bubba in a federal prison or being put to death by firing line, I've decided to leave. Don't think this means I've given up... I will find a way to destroy these pieces of shit.

It's tough hearing that because I think of joining all the time to help pay off my student loans. I have heard going in as an officer isn't the best thing though, plus no signing bonuses have really kept me from taking the plunge.

I said though we had a fully stocked bar. Beer was for the peons that couldn't stand the thought of getting in trouble. All you had to do was have a glass ready for 1st sgt or the CO when health and welfare rolled around.

I agree with what Fuji and Rek have said. However if I hadn't joined the army I would not have the education that I have now. I have zero college ed and still make more than alot of people with bachelors degrees. It all depends on what you want to do. I would never join just because there is a signing bonus. You have to do it for the long run. Find a career in the medical field, let the army train you to do it then transfer everything to the civilian side. I could go on and on about the ups and downs of the military, but truthfully if you have a good head on your shoulders and aren't a dummy about it, it can be a very positive experience.
