My FMIC looks like shit. It's missing a lot of paint from road stones dinging it all up. I'm going to repaint it soon.
Any crazy suggestions? One of our members, his name escapes me at the moment, has his FMIC painted black,
with white teeth on it. I totally dig that look and he said it's cool if I steal his idea.

So besides that, what do you guys think? It came painted black.

I don't know if I'll do that in white though, maybe a grayish color. That way, it's not THAT noticeable.

I briefly considered doing the teeth is a very dark shade of red. I am now revisiting that idea.

Who here has experience with compact rifle scopes, holographics, red dots, etc...?
I'm having a rough time choosing an optic for my zombie apocalypse carbine.

Don't own anything but traditional rifle scopes. Have shot some rounds through firearms with red dots and they seem acceptable and fast to acquire the target. The holographics seem pretty cool but I have only looked through them and never actually "used" them. They seem to be a fancier red dot but have some cool features like being able to get some pretty detailed reticles (range finders, etc)
Pepring for the zombie apocalypse? Check this out, it matches your scenario. lol

Hmmmm....this is going to be harder than I once thought. I've got a Min-14 with an ATI Strikeforce stock on it.

Preferably, I'd like to mount something kind of like this: http://www.shopping.com/barska-opti...ated-reticle-ar-15-m16-scope-black-matte/info
and still be able to use the factory iron sights underneath. Things aren't working out so well in that pursuit.
I would love something like that EO Tech sight you listed, but I want a little bit of magnification. I know I can find
what I'm looking for.....
.....the problem is finding what I want, at a reasonable price. There are a few optics that meet my needs, but they
are sometimes twice as expensive as the rifle I'm mounting it on.

How do you like the ATI stock was the fit good and does it seem to be as good or better then original?

The only reason I ask is because I have an all weather mini thirty and I've considered this stock on several occasions I'll just have to file the magazine opening a bit bigger to fit the mini thirty clips.

I like it overall. There are a few issues I have with it, but they may not be an issue with other models, manufacturing years, etc. I do know that ATI says some modifications will be needed to fit the Mini-30 in there. I suppose you already know about this though, since you mentioned filing the magazine well.

My issues with it are because of my year group. The rear sight sits pretty low and the front sight isn't very tall. The problem with that is, with the ATI stock, the
barrel heat shield/hand guard has a picatinny rail screwed to it. This gets in the way and makes it hard to use the iron sights. Take the top rail off and it's no problem.
My issue is, I want to mount some type of optic to that rail AND be able to use the iron sights as well. My Mini doesn't have the integrated scope mount blocks on
the receiver so I'm going to have to do some custom work to achieve my goals.
The only other thing I can think of is the butt stock. Because it is a tubular telescoping stock, the cheek comb is basically non-existent. This isn't a huge problem if
only shooting iron sights, but to get the proper eyeball alignment with certain optics, you need to raise your head a little bit. I don't particularly care for that because
changing something like that ruins consistency. Either way, to help out a little bit, you can get larger cheek combs that simply screw on. That's one of the first things I'm
going to order.
I hope I answered all your questions. It does fit quite nice.

I picked up an NCStar scope (traditional) years back for one of my AK. Worst scope I ever dealt with. It would never hold my settings after one shot. In fact, it would go so far out that at 20 yards she was missing the paper entirely. Replacement was the same.

Some guys talk crap about Barska but I have a spotters scope by them and it has proven to be of decent quality for the money.

Just my experiences with the two.

I appreciate the input on those! I really only posted those links as examples of what I'm looking for. I may need a lot of
eye relief because of how far forward I may have to mount the optic.

I picked up another section of Picatinny rail yesterday. I bolted that to the underside of the rifle and installed
a foregrip that contains a spring loaded bipod as well. It's pretty sweet.
