So update on project rated X.
I've got all the necessary power pieces to set this hog to stage 3. Yeah yeah I know your thinking already?! I know Alin is.
My current list of parts that I have for this are,
Downpipe, this piece comes off what mitsubishi calls the 02 Housing. The 02 Housing is the piece that connects to the hot side of the turbo. Many times it's also called a turbo outlet or elbow.
Next inline is my CatPipe. Most people replace this with a "test pipe" but since I'm somewhat of a respectful and thoughtful individual I decided to run a 200 cell hi flow catted section. It's literally just a straight piece of pipe with a couple of bungs for 02 sensors and a high flow cat welded in line.
From there I have these two pieces mating to a Invidia Q300 cat back section. I liked how my Q300 sounded on my STi, so I figure I'll give it a whirl on the Evo. Most of the Evo X's that I have done work on seem to have either AMS or ETS exhaust systems on them. I don't like the look of the single exit cannon style, it leaves a void where another exhaust tip should be in my personal opinion. And I wasn't too keen on paying $2000.00 for a full ETS turboback. So I chose this path.
Next thing I decided to tackle was intake. Chose the Cobb SF Intake for the main reason of retention of the stock Evo MAF housing and pretty much ease of install, and price. Also picked up a silicone turbo inlet hose. Much much much much much easier to install this piece on a Evo than it is a STi, did I mention it was MUCH easier?
Lastly I picked up a Cobb 3 Port EBCS to round out the basic bolt on requirements for stage 3.
And lastly the Cobb AccessPORT V3 got a good deal on it and wasn't going to pass it up
Moving on to other areas.
If you thought the shifter was sloppy in the STi from the factory.......haha you haven't felt anything like this yet, go drive a stick Evo X or any Stock Evo with a manual gearbox infact and you'll be so surprised your eyes will fall out of their sockets. It's about as sloppy as feeding a horse a hand full of oats.
So naturally I HAD to change this crap.... Yes it's crap!
So I ordered up a Torque Solutions Short Throw Shifter along with Shifter Base Bushings, Gate Selector Bushings, and Underhood Shifter Bushings. Had a 4 week back order wait on this stuff. But when it finally came in I was happier than a pig in shit
I will be pairing this stuff with my ARC Titanium knob from my Evo 8 that was removed before saying toodles.
So I started to think about some of the other stuff I had in the interior of my STi that I wanted in this Evo, and I remembered oh yeah! LED interior lights, so got my butt on Amazon and picked up one of those 10 dollar LED kits. So besides R2D2, my AccessPORT, shifter and shift knob and now the LED stuff the interior will be quite plain. I'm not huge on plastidipping or hydrodipping or whatever the kids are doing these days. I don't plaster stickers or do anything like that. I like my interiors very neat and tidy.
So I absolutely needed to render the monster truck suspension on the car. Had coils on my STi and my Evo 8, handled amazing, but I'm looking for comfort more than anything these days, so I decided to pick up a set of Swift Lowering Springs for it. Lowers the front -2.0 and the rear -1.75. That's a modest drop, cleans up the wheel gap, just what I'm looking for.
I don't stance my stuff, I won't track the car enough to warrant the price of coils, and I like the way my spine feels after a long road trip on struts and springs.
Decided to do my signature yellow fog light bulbs, because I'm JDM yo! Isn't that what the kids say these days? I put them in because it's my car and I like them.
