Nice car. Hopefully everything will work out for you. I had to ask my parents for money right after I graduated X-ray tech school in 2005. I had just gotten married, had no nest egg and was doing valet to pay some bills while the wife was going to college full time (we were 20). I didn't like it one bit. so, I feel your pain there. NSTR as of now. Couldn't get a hold of my 1SG yesterday afternoon. Gonna try to get a North/South on the paperwork so I can have it submitted by today so I can send you guys the car while I (might) be in WLC.

Currently, because I live on post and have no family they feel that my situation is not an emergency and I should try going to a bank instead (time since opening a new account is too recent according to most). So right now it looks like I'll be paying 400/mo + 165 for insurance on my car so it can collect dirt in the parking lot.

I was told to come back if there is no other way for me to get the money and then he would reconsider it...but I don't see the car getting fixed any time soon.

"I could go off post and get a payday loan...but last I heard the federal government said that and the 600% interest was illegal...they would have no problem at all giving me 6000$ and expect the government to pay them 8000$ in two weeks..." - told that to AER once in 2006.

They see it more as "you bought a brand new sports car -> put something on it -> blew up -> no warranty". I explain that there's an inherent weakness with the pistons and a good number of them blow up for no reason at all and I typically get the "oh..yeah..sure" type of response. I'm going to try a few more banks and see if I have any option at all from any of them (doubtful). Shit, USAA wouldn't even approve me for 4000.
