HolyCrapItsFast... Cyberu belongs to someone else now.

How hard would it be to modify your controler to spay said heat exchanger under certing conditions. I.E. if under boots or temp reaches x turn apply power to motor 2 else null. Sorry for crappy example.

The functionality is already there so you can apply any logic you like. Easy Peazy!

Nice!!! First off welcome back!!!

Thank you for the complement! So is all that still working properly. It has been quite a while since you installed it. I have already been through a few boost gauges because the electronics aren't very robust

Thank you, glad to be back! Yes, everything has always worked properly! You did a fantastic job!

Even if the electronics aren't as good as we'd like them to be, what you have accomplished is beyond amazing! The whole interface and what you can monitor is jaw dropping! Do you think there is someone else out there with an STi that is on par with you when it comes to gizmos?

Oh I'm sure there is someone that has as much if not more... but how many of those devices are DIY projects.

For your fans I had a second version program for you but I don't think we ever got around to installing it. I forgot why you wanted it changed but I think it was because the fans came on and off as the temperature bounced between 1 degree of threshold.

Yeah, fan 1 (engine bay temp) turns on and off continuously at 100 degrees. The ticking noise gets pretty crazy at times until the temp reads over 102 or under 98 degrees. It used to be annoying at first, but I'm over it now. Alongside all the creaks, squeaks, thuds, and metal on metal action, the last thing to annoy me is the on and off ticking of the module. I don't drive in traffic, so temps do not surpass 120 degrees often and sprayer turns on once in a blue moon.

Holy shit! New engine porn!

Looks sweet. Seems like there's 4 of us all building engines for our sti's at the same time lol

Well the engine build took a turn for the worse! We managed to get the car back together last week and I was able to drive it home... I was all happy because I made it 35 miles from the shop to my home and everything was perfect. Comes the next morning I started the car and immediately noticed the oil pressure was dropping. My heart fell into my stomach! Thinking it was a bad sensor I removed the oil pressure switch and moved my fuel pressure sensor to that location and sure enough... No oil pressure at all. My mind started to reel. "What could have gone wrong?" I thought. "Maybe we forgot to tighten the oil pick up?". "Maybe something got sucked up into the pickup?". I had no idea at this point and I started to remove the oil pan to investigate. Turns out it was none of that and my only conclusion was the oil pump itself. But what could go wrong with the oil pump. It was working just fine the night before. Well reading up on the interwebs for some info I came across some forum threads which suggested that some Subaru 11mm shelf units fail very shortly after installation because the bypass valve gets stuck on a burr inside and won't close. I also read of someone having exactly the same issue as me so this was my final conclusion and the cause of my problem

But now there lingered the question. "Did I do any damage to the motor?". Mind you now at this point and pretty much the entire whole next week I was an emotional nervous wreck. My good friend Alex, who owns Real Auto Dynamics here in Oceanside NY assured me that he would get to the bottom of the issue. The man and his team are saints because they now had to put up with a crazy nut pacing back and forth waiting for a glimmer of good news. Keep in mind that they had just built and installed that very motor the previous week for a modest price of nothing... Yes nothing! Beyond that he lent me his Audi during the time my motor was being put in. All because I help them tune a couple of cars and Alex was so grateful for it that he set aside the shops time and resources and gave up his personal transportation to accommodate me. I didn't think what I did warranted all of that

So another week later and the master tech has completed work on my car. we decided to install the old oil pump from my old motor because we felt it best to stick with what you know. He pointed out to me the failed oil pump and confirmed that the bypass valve was indeed stuck open. He then primed the motor and he fired her up. It was at that point I had to leave the room because if it turned out to be blown I would have stabbed myself with a screwdriver right then and there to end it all. But what was I worried about the whole time but a bunch of nothing. I should have just trusted the experts and left it well in there hands because it fired up on the first crank and ran silent and smooth and oil pressure was better than ever. I drove it home that day and it has been fine ever since... Now on with the break-in

Just a couple of words about Alex and the rest of the team at Real Auto Dynamics. In the time I have spent with them, I have grown to admire the work they do. Long Island has needed a shop like this for a long time. A shop with ethical values. A shop with vast knowledge. Most of all a shop that is willing to admit its mistakes and make it right. Not that I am saying they make allot of mistakes but shit sometimes happens and they will make it right when it does. The atmosphere is fun yet work gets done and the experience is divers to say the least. The shop is primarily GTR, Porsche Nissan and Subaru but they take on pretty much anything that comes through the door. Just two examples is a Toyota Gen 2 MR with an AEM EMS Series 2 and a Toyota Supra also with a Series 2 EMS, both of which I will be tuning for them in due time. Alex's approach to tuning is almost exactly the same as mine in that we want to give the customer a tune that is precise for the mods being used and for the customers goals in mind, is precision calibrated for daily driving as much as it is for spirited and WOT driving and most of all... is safe under all conditions.

I just can't say enough about them so I would hope if you are in the NY Long Island area and in need of service, installation or tuning, that you will give them some consideration and tell them that HolyCrapItsFast sent you.

HolyCrapItsFast, Glad to hear your motor is running well but now you got me worried. Is there anything I can check on my new 10mm OEM pump to make sure the bypass valve will not get stuck, or does this just affect the 11 mm pumps?

We will have a convo about them and my tune when the time comes. Glad the motor is safe man

Yes we should... You should come down and I will introduce you to the shop and the team. I think you will like them. He said he wants to make me his master tuner so if you don't mind me doing that to your car then it will ultimately be me tuning it.

You have to check the orifice for the bypass vale outlet and check it for burrs. I would even go one step further and disassemble it to see if the parts move freely. Here is a pick so you know what to look for. Honestly I don't know what units are effected.

I've already gone into mild boost LOL... It really is killing me.

But I will be good till then. I changed the oil at 100 miles and there is no metal particles in either the oil or the filter. Oil pressure is holding at 78 psi while cruising and 30 psi at idle on a hot motor. Oil cooler maintains oil temp between 185 and 190...

I think I'm out of the storm now.
