So for everyday driving use, the zinc amsoil will help. Ok i understand that with the protection. How much does it help is my next question? Is the difference that great that i should switch to the zinc additive one?
Oil companies will say the new formulations are just as effective. Gear heads and others will say not.
Some say ZDDP is a must in older pushrod and flat tappet engines. Some say its a waste in modern engines.
The literal answer, I don't know.
My thoughts are it can't hurt to use an oil with elevated ZDDP, so why not?
Our engines are a high performance engine and coupled with a turbo using the oil, it can be a particularly hard environment for the oil. My thoughts are that just any old oil will never do and one must be selective in choosing said oil.
