Just made a big step towards the engine swap.

IAG Stage II shortblock
Gates timing/pump/belt/tensioner kit
OEM Gasket & Seal kit
Brian Crower 272 cams

I still need to order head studs and anything else you think I should replace rather than swap over from my current engine.

What does everyone recommend for head studs?

Two of the choices available at this time are ARP 2000's, supposedly able to handle 500whp ($190) and ARP 625's ($480).

I plan to shoot for +450whp, but shouldn't really be able to hit 500. Should I pay the extra money for the more capable studs?

I would buy the upgraded studs. Your goal is your goal until you reach it then you will want more and you don't want the studs to be the reason you can't. I know I made that mistake

Good point, however my goal is also pretty much my limit due to my choice of turbo, which I never intend to change. But you're probably right about that, 5-10 years from now I might change the turbo and could go bigger. It's just painful going 2.5x more expensive that needed at the moment.

Do you have experience with either of these specific stud options?

Yes I have the ARP 2000 which have been good for me but I know I'm at the limit. On e-85 and 29lbs boost I'm afraid the heads will lift. I should have went with the better studs

I'm expecting to tune for 25 psi on 93 octane so I should be fine. But maybe I will go with the 625's anyway just to have room to grow...safely.

Ahhh damnit. I don't know. I think the ARP 2000's would be enough. I can't imagine ever trying to make more than 500.

What's this? Lower subframe or something? Mine is in kinda crappy shape. Should I replace it? (Outlined in red.)

That is the front subframe just remove the surface rust oil etc and re-paint it.

Roger that. Thanks.

I'll sand, paint with rust stopper and matte black rustoleum.

I got a fair amount done today. The radiator is still draining out into an old cat litter basin right now.

I'll pick up with radiator, power steering, upper coolant reservoir, alternator, belt removal...

Then probably header, downpipe, up pipe, intake manifold.

Sooo...for fueling, I think I'll be ditching my (side feed) Perrin fuel rails and Deatschwerks 850cc injectors. I don't know what I could get for them, but I will offer them at a very, very low price for anyone on igotasti.com .

Anyway, I will still retain side feed TGVs, which we will gut ourselves. Then I'll add Fuel Injector Clinic "RL STi side-to-top feed conversion" fuel rails and 1200cc top feed converted fuel injectors (that match the RL STi rails).

Anyone see anything wrong with that idea...? Thanks!

Got a little more done. Radiator and upper coolant reservoir removed, AC disconnected, power steering disconnected, a few wire harness connectors disconnected and the downpipe is basically loose at this point.

I lot more ahead of me for later this week/weekend.
