Good call, Grinder.

LOL Spamby, I'd prefer to not have to hurt the cat.

One way or another, that cat is going to be in for a surprise very soon.
It won't be long before I formulate some kind of sinister plan.

As the weather get's nicer, there are more people out on the sidewalks. Every spring I am
reminded how much entertainment I get out of dumping a ton of boost into my passenger
side wheel well and scaring people.

It's 2014, so it seems like most people would at least be aware of the noises a turbocharged
car makes, but I still get looks like "WTF WAS THAT?!" from pedestrians as I fly by.

...yeah, I'm THAT guy. :subaru:

Apparently the new Porsche GT3 3.8L engine is experiencing some problems. Porsche has narrowed it down to the rod bolts. The blocks are cracking, spilling oil and then many have reported fires destroying the cars. Porsche has announced to owners to not drive the cars. Porsche will be replacing all of the engines at no charge. OUCH! expensive screw up.
However, they are no stranger to motor failures. In the past, the 996 model 911 Carrera, non turbo and not the GT3 or GT2, the case halves were splitting resulting in catastrophic engine failure.

So just when you get pissed about your Subaru piston failure, imagine plunking down 100-200k on a car only having it throw it's oil everywhere and burning to the ground.:tdown:

OR imagine someone like me or you, buy a used one cause that's what you can afford and then having the motor fail. Replacing that engine would be like buying a new car. I had remembered looking at replacement engines for my Cayenne and seeing a price tag of 32,000, or somewhere in there, for new crate engine. :tard:

So I guess the moral of the story is that even the high end performance cars, like the venerable Porsche, aren't without their black eyes.

Dunno. I thought Porsche was so anal about everything and the fact that they take FOREVER to design and implement things, let alone change them, that major issues would be few and far between.

I know I have experienced some minor irritations with their design, coolant pipe failure and coil pack failures, headlight fuck ups and keyless entry (kessy) failures but THANK GOD I have the balls to tear into it and save me some major cash.

2500 for the coolant pipes. I paid 550 for the parts plus a few extras while I was in there. 1000 total.
800 for the coils. I paid 350.
Duct tape for the headlights and file for the contacts. LOL freebie!
Keyless system, ignoring it. A huge pain with systems and subsystems requiring special testers and extensive knowledge of the car and its electrical systems. I can use the key fob and press a button. Freebie!! Ignore FTW
rear hatch struts. 100
HVAC solenoids. 300 total.
1000 for a brake job. probably about 2000 at the stealer

No it's not. And those my friend were well documented design flaws, besides the brakes. Nearly every cayenne owner will experience them.

Sheesh. I hope they know about whats coming up for them.

Old generations I think the new ones don't have those issues.

Still yet, it pissed a lot of people off. So much that there is a lawsuit regarding the coolant pipe failures. They are settling and actually I received a letter regarding this class action. But seeing as how I replaced them, out of warranty and by myself, I would only recover UP TO 200 dollars. Lol
