Drove car up to Norfolk and was running great the whole time I was there (Fri - Sun). When I was on the way back sunday evening apparently the rear main seal decided to get swallowed up into the engine and leaked all over the flywheel which slung amsoil ALL.OVER.THE.CAR. Didn't know what happened at first, but I found out because the oil light actually came on just as I was getting back to fayetteville. I put in 3 1/2 quarts that I had in my trunk and took it down to Spec Ops. They checked the turbo first since it appeared it was coming from the turbo but it checked out ok. They dropped the oil pan and found brown seal material in the pan and that's when they discovered it was the rear main seal that blew.

Damn man....talk about bad luck with her so far....atleast you didn't toast the motor. And nice vid going from Smoke Bomb Hill onto AA FW. I usually hit 100+ by the time I get onto it....

You also drove past where I live.

Yeah, the cars been a big blubbering vagina. It's being stored down at spec ops while I'm on vacation. I'm just now getting settled in down here and on a normal sleep schedule. Now I just have to count down the days til I'm back home and able to drive something that actually has power again. I laid off the power a little towards the end on that because I saw something white in my mirror and thought it was an MP for a second. Getting a ticket doing 100mph down all american 2 weeks before deploying would have made the boss a little more than pissed.

Ordered a KillerB Oil pan, pickup, and baffle and having it shipped down to Spec Ops for installation. Tarmac 2s and Invidia EL Headers, and a brake upgrade are on the horizon and will be followed shortly thereafter by a rotated 3576 and a nice beefy clutch.

After a minor struggle with finances due to a bank screw up I'm almost ready to get things rolling.

Within the next ~3 months this build will be complete as far as performance modifications go. I never thought I'd have this car finished so quickly and fully expected to spend several years doing what I wanted to do. If luck is on my side the car may even be paid off by this time next year.

So, without further ado, here's the full run down.

Phase 1: COMPLETED
Cobb AccessPORT
Cobb Downpipe
Cobb SF Intake
Kartboy Endlinks
RCE Front and Rear Sway Bars
Cobb Front/Rear Shifter Bushings
Cobb Short Throw Shifter
Invidia N1 Race CBE

Phase 2: COMPLETED
NGK One Step Colder Plugs
CP 9.0:1 Pistons
ACL Race Main Bearings
ACL Race Rod Bearings
ARP Head Studs
Element Tuning H Beam Connecting Rods
Gates Racing Timing Belt
Deatschwerks 850cc Injectors
DW65C
Hallman MBC

Phase 2.5: COMPLETED
Exedy Twin Plate Clutch
RCE Tarmac IIs
GT Worx Camber Plates
Cusco Lateral Links
Rear Dif. Bushings
Subframe Bushings
Killer B Oil Pan
Killer B Oil Pickup
Killer B Oil Baffle

Phase 3: PENDING COMPLETION
Invidia EL Headers
Crawford AOS
StopTech Stainless Brake Lines
Group N Engine Mounts
Group N Transmission Mounts

Phase Ω:
ETS Rotated 3576 w/ Tial V-band Hotside

GSC S2 Cams
GSC Valvetrain
Build/Ported Heads

My "Way Ahead" is to have this car become a daily driven road course monster. I've got a long way to go with driver modifications however so bear with me. The projected end state for the vehicle is sub 500WHP on 93 octane fuel with as much reliability as I can afford. I don't expect to get 80,000 miles out of the vehicle though. I just want it done right the first time and built to last as long as possible. I hit a huge bump when my motor suffered a catastrophic failure at 6,000 miles. At that time I decided that I wouldn't cut any corners unless I'm left with no choice.

By March I'm hoping to have the ETS rotated kit in and ready to hit up VIR and Road Atlanta. I have a gopro that doesn't get used nearly enough :( I honestly didn't ever plan on building it this fast but 2 rotations in the Philippines has been good to me financially...that and being a single E-5 doesn't hurt either.

The headwork and cams are going to depend on what is needed when everything else is said and done as well. If I don't need it, I won't bother. But I've heard the element tuning heads are pretty nice

Managed to catch the shop owner on facebook (at 2AM EST...) and got to talk with him directly about everything. Ended up with a huge change in direction but has made me feel a lot more confident about the future of this build.

1) E85 (with a 93 octane daily tune)
2) Complete Fuel System upgrade
3) Head work, Cams, Valvetrain
4) Turbo will be last priority

He basically wants to make sure that the car will be running at full potential and without cams it just won't be possible. I'm concerned about the cost so we both agreed that it would be better to have the longblock completely finished before moving on to a larger turbo set up.

And so....

Heads will be sent off and given a once over and will be reassembled with a full GSC valvetrain and set of S1 or S2 cams (I'm leaning towards the S2s)

Once that is done the entire fuel system will get an overhaul and prepped for E85 (which will more than likely result in some beefier injectors and i'll be ditching the 850s)

After all is said and done, turbo upgrades will come back to the table aimed at 400whp on pump and 450 on E85 for track days.

Why not E85 daily? Sure, you get worse fuel economy but you get extra grins. Plus, from my understanding, its not really any more dangerous to the motor or anything.

If you plan on getting rid of the 850s, I may be in the market.
