We had a stupidly hot and humid month and a half - uncharacteristically hot (mid 30's in celsius). But I was seeing IAT's of 140-150F regularly... It's a hard plastic MAF housing, and I can see it's actually 'structurally failed' - there was even a section where a small chunk literally peeled off .

Dammit, need to pay more attention. Got some knock up top (pulled 3 degrees and dropped into failsafe fuel map) - at least I know that the 0.975 approach works! Pulling some timing up top, hopefully no damage done (didn't sound or feel like it, just rich due to failsafe fuel map)

It got hot - I've been using the MAF current and voltage approach to gauge EGT, works well - so I know it got close to 'too hot for comfort' - but not quite to the limit.

That's what I get for decimating some poor bastard in an S3 with a k04 swap...

Ugh... Sick as a dog, I hate full blown flus. I love my kid, but damn young kids carry the super power bugs.

Ah well, gave me some time to disassemble - helping a tuner from Australia pull apart a 10 spec c rom, interesting. I'm also thinking of adding an extra line to VE table on my SD rom, at 300 rpm and bumping the fueling up - so that on the occasional idle loping I get, it throws fuel at it if it starts dipping, as opposed to getting an overshooting correction cycle.

Sorry to here that your are sick, buuuutttt... I'm so happy you are smart enough to school tuners and that you can do it without being condescending like so many other people i know locally. Your definitely one of the good ones

Thanks Holy - ego thankfully is not a big thing in my life. More interested in acquiring knowledge that acquiring kudos :tard: nice thing is I'm learning plenty in return - this guy's an absolute wizz on the DBW side of things, awesome torque / pedal maps .

Lots to learn, always...

Cool... Then you can share with us!

So... I'll be getting the latest version of the opensource SD patch in the next week or so - now included MAF blending, LC and FFS, and.... CEL Knock Flash :D

Can't wait!

I've also managed to dig out the load filtering variables in my Rom that are mentioned in the COBB SD tuning guide (basically, engine load is filtered using a dampening variable from the raw engine load value, given the characteristics of the MAF sensor. This filter does not work well for MAP based fueling). Should help with some of the weird transient effects of SD at light throttle.

Chuckle... so I'm an idiot. The last time I reset my EBCS, I didn't retweak the wastegate settings up... left it at the rated wastegate pressure for the Dom3XTR (1 bar; ~15 psi). Obviously, the higher you set the baseline pressure, the longer the wastegate stays closed, the quicker you build pressure (and of course, are likely to get boost creep).

Bumped it up to 1.1 bar, boost building up much quicker already, and no sign of creep yet. Will tweak it up - maybe I can finally get my spool up times decent. Devil is in the detail. Might need to tone timing down...

Oh yeah... I have in my grubby paws the full speed density patch, with MAF blending, and CEL flash on knock. Can't wait to try it out!
